The HABA Scheibix Matching Game is designed for children from age 3, and what looks at first like a straightforward colour-matching activity quickly reveals itself as much more. Alongside recognising colours, children practise fine motor skills, visual discrimination, early pattern recognition and the satisfying concentration that comes from completing a picture piece by piece.

The set includes sixteen template images ranging from simple to more challenging designs, allowing children to progress at their own pace and return to the activity again and again.

And once the templates are mastered, the 128 wooden discs begin a second life beyond the cards. They become mosaics, patterns, tiny building elements, sorting materials or ingredients for entirely new imaginary worlds created by children themselves.
