Kapla planks are made from 100% untreated pine wood sourced from pine forests in Les Landes in the South-west of France. Conforming European Directives for Toys (DIN EN 71) and other international standards, the raw materials used for KAPLA planks are carefully selected. The precision manufacturing process ensures that each plank is exactly the same size with utmost precision, has the correct ratio, is perfectly balanced and smooth which results in stable and secure constructions.
About Kapla:
Kapla was invented by a Dutchman, Tom van der Bruggen, who wanted to turn an old French farm into his dream castle. To help him visualise his plans, he used simple wooden blocks, but soon realized that they would not be suitable for certain aspects of the construction, such as the lintels, roofs and floors. So he made his own uniquely sized planks (with the ratio 1:3:15) that has enabled to make special constructions with high stability and without the need to use any glue or fixing. Used as a pedagogical tool in the French National Education System, helping children to understand fundamental issues of geometry, physics and technology. Kapla wooden planks are truly fantastic, no wonder that they are used in many educational institutes around the world. They are incredibly simple, but due to their unique uniform size, there are endless of exciting and challenging possibilities hidden in them, and playing with them can be entertaining for the whole family, including the adults.
