makedo: Spin-Hinge

12,90

Makedo is an Australian brand built on a simple idea: children do not need more toys, they need the tools to make their own. Inspired by the maker movement and a desire to support creativity, innovation, and STEAM-driven thinking, Makedo sets and tools enable young creators to transform everyday cardboard into anything their imagination can come up with. With safe, child-friendly tools, young makers can cut, connect, and build freely, turning boxes into inventions and ideas into reality.

Children can start “makedoing” with support from around the age of 4. From about 7 years on, most can work independently. There is no upper age limit. Makedo is just as engaging for parents, grandparents, or even colleagues looking for a hands-on team-building activity that awakens creative thinking.

The Spin-Hinge adds movement to cardboard constructions. With a full 360-degree rotation, it allows makers to create doors, windows, wheels, wings, trapdoors, and other moving elements within their builds.

Please note: this is not a stand-alone kit and requires a the basic sets and tools to be used.

    About makedo:

Have you ever noticed how often the cardboard box steals the show from the toy inside? Long before adults speak about sustainability or maker culture, children already know how to transform packaging into castles, robots, vehicles, and inventions that exist nowhere else but in their imagination. Makedo was created to honour that instinct.

Dreamt up in Australia by a father who witnessed this magic at home, Makedo stands for exactly what its name suggests: Make and Do. It is built on a simple but powerful belief: children do not need more toys. They need the freedom and the right tools to create their own.

Inspired by the maker movement and designed for creative thinkers, Makedo provides safe and functional tools that allow children to cut, connect, and construct with everyday cardboard. Instead of offering fixed models or pre-designed outcomes, it gives young makers the means to bring their ideas to life. Cardboard becomes raw material. Children become engineers, designers, and problem-solvers.

At its heart, Makedo is also about something we like to encourage through play: resourcefulness. What could be more eco-friendly than reusing what is already around us? Rather than adding more plastic to the world, Makedo invites children to transform everyday cardboard into something new and turn waste into possibility.

Building with cardboard naturally develops spatial thinking, perseverance, and early STEM skills. It involves planning, testing, adjusting, and trying again. It also encourages teamwork, whether between siblings at home or in group settings such as classrooms and workshops.

Makedo tools are specifically engineered for young makers. With rounded edges and intuitive designs, they support safe cardboard construction in a supervised environment. All Makedo products are independently safety tested to an age grading of 3+ and comply with international toy standards including ASTM F963, Canada Toys Regulations SOR, EU REACH and EN71, and AS/NZS 8124.
