    How to play?

    • Number Kubb is a competitive game with very simple rules. The game is played outdoors and is especially appropriate for small parties or for playing at the
      beach. Find an even surface, preferable grass, sand, gravel or sand – where the number pins can be stood up easily.
    • The game is designed for 2-8 players, starting from age 5. The aim of the game is to score exactly 50 points by knocking over the numbered pins.

    Setting up the game:

    • The number pins need to be facing the throwing line, which is 3,5 meters from the pins.
    • The number pins are set up in a blunt triangle formation as shown below. They need to touch each other, with the lower rim pointing towards the throwing line.

    Row 1: 1, 2 / Row 2: 3, 10, 4 / Row 3: 5, 11, 12, 6 / Row 4: 7, 9, 8

    The Rules

    • The youngest player begins play by throwing the throwing stick at the number pins. All throwing style is allowed (or in some version of the game you can only throw underarm, holding the pin in the middle.)
    • Each player has only one throw per playing round and score points if takes down any or many of the numbered pins. A player can score points in one of two ways:
      • knocking over exactly one pin: in this case scores the amount of points that is marked on that specific pin;
      • knocking over two or more pins: in this case scores the number of pins that were knocked over (e.g. knocking over 4 pins scores 4 points)
    • Scores are only valid if the pins have completely fallen over and they are not lying on each other or on the throwing stick.  A throw, in which either no numbered pin is hit, or where the pins have all fallen on top of each other or on the throwing stick, is a “miss”. If you step over the throwing line, then that is also a miss. Three misses in a row leads to the player in question bowing out of that game.
    • The players take turns throwing the stick, and after the points are counted the numbered pins are set upright, with numbers facing the throwing line again on the exact same place where they fell to (therefore always resulting in a new start position).
    • After every throw the points scored are added to the person’s individual score. To win the game the player needs to reach exactly 50 points. If a player’s final throw earns points which are more than 50 points, then the score is set back to 25, and all players continue as usual. The first player to score exactly 50 points is the winner.
