OplaToys: Nativity (limited edition)

The month of Advent is the most magical time of the year. Buit in today’s world sometimes the meaning gets lost. In order to bring the Christmas story closer to children, Ototoys designed a nativity scene for children, which can be used as a toy or a real nativity scene under the Christmas tree. The Nativity Scene is the Christmas version of Ototoy’s favourite Colorful Street, but much more magical. Just as other toys of Primož, the set is made from local beech wood, and each piece is handpainted in his workshop by caring hands. The colors are carefully chosen to illustrate the warmth and homeliness of Christmas.

The nativity scene was designed by Romeo Volk, a well-known Slovenian folk artist and connoisseur of folk traditions. He is known as a great lover of nativity scenes, and this year marks the 30th anniversary of his first home-made carved nativity scene. During this time, he created many of them, both wooden and paper. His paper nativity scene was exhibited in Rome in 2018, and today it adorns the Nativity Museum in Brezje.

Tip: If you already have the set of Colourful Street at home, you can combine the two toys. The houses from the first can become the city of Bethlehem.

The toys of Primož Rojc are very distinct from any other toy in our offer – and that’s where their beauty lies also. They remind us of old, nostalgic toys made in the workshops of our grandfathers. They are made with heart, and also by hand, and the paints and finishes therefore are a bit more uneven, and a bit rougher.
