Beside Grapat, we have brought you another Spanish brand we are head over heals about: this time from the sunny and lively Andalucía! It’s a region famous for passion and cheerfulness – and we do think it is a fact strongly reflected in the Ocamora wooden toys! Born out of a passion project of a husband and wife team, Laura and Gregorio, the rainbow coloured toys are not only exclusively handmade but also “heartmade”. If you hold a piece in your hand, you can tell that they have put all their affection into it. And it’s not only the affection for nature, natural materials and the almost long-forgotten art of woodwork, but also an affection for children’s play. Laura, a mother of three, is passionate about constantly learning about children’s development, and has dug herself into the Waldorf and Montessori approaches. They also cooperate in their homeland with some children institutions, and always appreciate feedback on their work. Their toys – with their vibrant colours and open-ended simplicity – spark imagination of little ones and even adults!
All Ocamora product are made with safety and sustainability in mind. They care actually so much of the environment, that beside Grapat they are our only brand who delivers packages completely plastic free. They use only FSC and PEFC certified wood, and 100 % natural, non-toxic water-based dyes and oil finishes. All their products bear the CE mark, and are manufactured conforming the relevant toy safety regulations of the European Union. When buying an Ocamora toy, or any other wooden toy for that matter, please remember that wood is a special, living material. As a result every piece is different, and can have unique knots and markings. It is not a fault, but a beautiful and unrepeatable proof of their natural origin. If you get a piece with a know, remember, your are holding in your hands a real collector’s item!
