Amélie Javaux: Moja nepovezana družina

Cookie was the happiest dog in the world until smart phones, tablets, and video games invaded his home! He’s had enough of family members glued to screens all the time. He decides it’s time to distract them from their devices and reconnect with each other. While technology brought us closer together during the Covid era, excessive screen time is often a solitary activity. This picture book aims to alert children to the fact that too much screen time can burden us, depriving us of many interactions we could otherwise have. Family relationships weaken, we lose touch with the real world, and we diminish our social skills, making ourselves and our loved ones unhappy. The main character of this picture book is a puppy, easily relatable for children, helping them empathize with his sadness over screens completely alienating the family. The simple story, unfortunately common in many of our homes, emphasizes that more important than screen time is being connected with oneself, with nature, and above all, with family and friends.
