The best strategy games often have one thing in common: the rules fit into a minute, but winning takes much longer. Quixo is exactly that kind of game. The goal sounds simple: line up five symbols in a row, and win. But there is a catch: instead of placing pieces, players push and shift entire rows of cubes, changing the board with every move. Suddenly every turn becomes both an attack and a defence, and you need to calculate ahead the moves of your opponents.

Quixo is easy enough to learn in thirty seconds but surprisingly hard to master. It works beautifully for two players but can also be played in teams of four, making it a rare strategy game that grows with the group.
