Threading beads is one of those simple activities that works on a surprising number of skills at once. Picking up each bead, guiding the string through the small opening and pulling it along develops fine motor control, hand-eye coordination and precision, all important foundations for later tasks such as drawing, writing and dressing independently.

With 60 wooden beads in five colours and three strings, children can create necklaces, bracelets and long colourful sequences while exploring colours, repeating patterns and their own combinations. Planning what comes next introduces sequencing and early logical thinking, while the repetitive threading action encourages concentration and perseverance.

The wooden box is part of the activity too. Its four separate compartments invite children to sort and classify the beads by colour or according to their own system before or after threading, adding another layer of matching, organisation and colour recognition to the set. And once play is finished, everything already has its place.
