Plan Toys: Pattern Board with Sorting Box

€25,00

This PlanToys peg set includes 45 wooden pegs in five colours and a double-sided wooden board with 37 engraved circles. Children can fill the board freely, create repeating patterns, explore symmetry, copy their own designs from one side to the other or arrange the colours into mandala-like compositions. Placing the small pegs precisely on the circles also develops fine motor control, finger dexterity and hand-eye coordination.

Because the pegs are simple, unstructured materials, their possibilities extend far beyond the board. They can become counters for early maths activities, ingredients in a play kitchen, food for dolls and animals, pieces for small-world play or materials for sorting, counting and creating patterns. This open-ended quality makes the set a truly versatile material that can move naturally between learning activities and imaginative play.

The four compartments inside the wooden box add another activity in themselves, inviting children to sort and classify the pegs by colour or according to their own system. Once play is finished, the board and all the little loose parts pack neatly back into the box.
